Our Housatonic-based alternative indie rock group 8 Foot River "currently" features the talents of Glenn Geiger on guitar, bass and vocals, Stephen Dietemann on guitar and bass, Steve Elling on electric guitar and mandolin, and Allen Bauman on drums and percussion.
Glenn first introduced his collection of original songs to Steve D. in a little practice studio located on the banks of the Housatonic River in 2009. Soon after, drummer Steve P. joined the two and in February 2010 Steve D. had recruited Gabrielle play her cello on the band's new songs.
As their mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation started shaping the direction of the band, Steve D. and Glenn collaborated on arranging several original songs, bringing a cohesive sound to their hard-hitting rock and sweetly melodic indie pop songs that make up the band's output.
Steve Elling joined us in 2011, rounding and filling out our sound with electric guitar and mandolin.
Allen replaced Steve P. on drums in 2012 and has brought with him a strong rhythm and feeling to the music.
The inventive sound of 8 Foot River's richly textured instrumentation and complex compositions reveal the vulnerability and emotion of the human experience.
